Why did I read this book?

Because Judy Garland makes me go all wibbly inside. The way her lip quivers as she sings "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in Meet Me In St. Louis... it brings tears to my eyes just to think about it. And in The Wizard of Oz I swear her ankles are just the sexiest thing in the world. Those little white socks and oh-so-camp sparkly shoes... Well. Goodness. And again, that trembling wide-eyed full-lipped nearly-crying look, as she tells the audience what she's learned, before she leaves Oz... Anyway: I wanted to know more about the real person behind all that fragile gorgeousness.
