2.7.07 POB fails to keep left; dippy pedestrians A selection of behaviours from other users of the path across Midsummer Common, as I was going towards Fair Street. Firstly, look at the cyclist coming towards me on my side of the path. I don't know where these kind of idiots get their riding habits from. After I've passed you can see him wobble too - he's none too steady. After a head-on collision with one many many years ago, I have adopted the habit of shouting `keep left' loudly, repeatedly, and well in time. This often seems to give offence (or cause bafflement) but normally avoids the need to brake heavily. It's tempting to go around to the right but what if the POB has simply failed to see me or is wobbling randomly or whatever ? It seems best to stick to the rules and slow down or stop if necessary. Secondly, look at the pedestrian who becomes distinct around 11s into this clip. She's staring at her shoes for some reason and meandering towards the side of the tarmac, into my path. Thirdly, notice the pedestrian in the blue denim jacket who seems to be operating his mobile phone and meanders across to the right. Normally this particular commons path isn't so bad and at least it's nice and wide, but you have to be constantly on the lookout for the kind of pathologies shown here. This should help explain why experienced cyclists often prefer to use the road !
