Rejection (1998)

They picked you, they chose you, they said you were theirs,
You took it, you felt it, you gave yourself airs,
'Twas you that they wanted, 'twas you that they loved,
'Twas you that they teased with their claws that were gloved.

And once they could see that you felt quite at ease
They whisked off those gloves and they started to tease.
They circled, they swooped, then they went for the kill,
But who would believe they could treat you so ill?

One against many, they good citizens all
And you a mere pawn who has suffered a fall
Who would accept your word 'gainst witness so great?
By common consent you are left to your fate.

Where once were your comrades there now stand your foes,
Betrayed by your loved ones, no end to your woes,
And e'en should you stand up and fight the good fight
'Twill always by you wrong and they who are right.

For no-one fights bullies, whatever their age,
But some day their spirits will rise up in rage,
And some day these cowards will reap what they've sown -
Unwanted, rejected, and left all alone.
