About me
Having spent the past eleven years in Cambridge, I've recently defected to Oxford to work as a lecturer at Oxford Brookes University. It's a bit of a shock to the system, and as I'm still spending weekends in Cambridge, I don't count myself to have properly "left" yet!
I'm currently single, following a bitter divorce that has pretty much left me despairing of the human race. I have a daughter, Loïs, who is 5 years old, but she lives with her father and I only get to see her a few hours a week. This is all rather sub-optimal, but I'm trying to muddle through in the hopes that things might yet improve.
Things that are important to me include:
- My writing, both poetry and prose (one short story only at the moment). I am currently working on a novel, but that's friends-only, I'm afraid.
- Photography; I've recently succumbed and bought a nice digital camera (a Fuji FinePix S5500) and am hoping to take lots more pretty photos. Past efforts (before I had this camera) can be found here and here.
- Politics, both of the governmental and the academic sorts. I am a member of the Liberal Democrats and am very interested in electoral methods and voting reform: this came about due to University politics reasons.
- My church, Little St Mary's. This is a church in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England (otherwise known as Anglo-Catholic). I sing soprano in the choir here, and currently have grandiose plans to revamp its website.
- My friends. 'Nuff said!
- LiveJournal. My own is friends-locked, I'm afraid.
