Clare's birthday cake (one of them, anyway)

(from _Fast Cakes_ by Mary Berry)

    * 150g butter
    * 100g dark or light soft brown sugar
    * 150ml clear honey
    * 1 tablespoon milk
    * 2 eggs
    * 200g self-raising flour
    * flaked almonds 

Heat oven to 350F/180C/gas mark 4.

Grease & line an 8" cake tin.

Put butter, honey, milk in a saucepan over a low heat until the butter
has melted and the sugar has dissolved. Leave to one side to cool.

Beat the eggs into the mixture one at a time, then stir in the
flour. Pour the mixture into a tin and sprinkle with almonds.

Bake for 30-35 mins.
