HMS Illustrious was open to the public. I had to queue for an hour to get on board, which is far longer than any of the other ships that have been here, even HMS Liverpool. And then there were more queues to get down from the flight deck and to get off the ship.

Tuesday, 19th February

I'm in London for what's supposed to be a one-day conference. However, train tickets to London arriving before 11am are insanely expensive, to the extent that it's cheaper to come down the day before and spend the night in a hotel. I took the opportunity to visit the Ansel Adams exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, which was fantastic.
