We unfortunately only managed to get to the Boat Race toward the end of the support act's set. We were at the back and chatting to people, and it didn't seem that exciting, though other people that were closer to the front and had a better chance to listen to it were quite enthused by it.
Wayne came on to the stage already populated by two guitars and a keyboard. He was very relaxed, and chatted to the audience as he picked up a guitar and started to play. The music was amazing acoustic stuff, some Mission stuff, some other bits and pieces. Early on he played Evangaline and Amelia both of which were amazing.
When he left the stage, the crowd pushed and pushed for an encore. We thought that he might be milking it a little bit, but then he came back on with the end of a cigarette in his mouth, and talked to us as he finished it. Less of an encore, more of a fag break, as there was quite a bit more of the evening to go. It finally finished with Deliverance, and left me in a fantastic mood!
With that excitment over, we pushed onwards to the Calling, which as usual was bouncy and there were a lot of fun people there. Natalie was directed at the local pusher for pixie products, and then we realised that he might in fact have a bit of competition, and I was given what can only be described as a pixie nuke! This was quite interesting, and the effect of some sticks, the nuke, and a lot of sugary drinks was noticed the next morning when my blood sugar level had skyrocketed, and I was shaking until after lunchtime.
