I arrived at the gig a little bit late, and was somewhat suprised to find that Humanity were already playing. It didn't seem that late on, but I then found out that it was in fact that the first band, Ligature where stuck in traffic and would be arriving late. This was somewhat of a shame, since I've see Humanity before, adn I was looking forward to seeing them again, and I'd just been a muppet and missed half their set.
Humanity themselves are a good band, with quite a tuenful sounds especially when compared to the other two on the bill. They played for a quite a while after I arrived, so I still got quite a lot of them. Some comparisions have been made between them and Paradise Lost. I think that this might be streching things a little far, but they are definitely a good band, and the audience were enjoying it. For what they do they have a lot of stage presence, but it's not the sort of thig that allows some of the more mad stage antics, as they try to create that darkened mood. It certainly worked well, as I have now got their EP and been listening to it quite a bit since the gig.
Next band, Ligature, sucked a bit... May be due to the fact that I don't really like very deathy noisy stuff that much but I found myself wishing that they hadn't been stuck in traffic, and then I could have got all of a band that I had wanted to hear, as opposed to having to listen to them.
Comment from Tristan was that I look bored out of my skull. This was probably fairly accurate at this point. I should leave reviewing this band to someone who has some more passion for this thrash thing.
Having said that, Vae Solis were really enjoyable. They were in my oinion very good thrash. By the end of the set there were a god few people headbanging at the front, and I had even ventured so far as to gently bob around a little myself. I was very impressed by them, adn I was going to mention their closing song as especially good. Well, I would but I've forgotten what it was called, so i shan't do that then. I would definitely recommend that you look up some of thier stuff, especially if you are into thrashy doomy and generally heavy stuff.
