   5 > I hope that my approach does not offend, but your name was mentioned to me by colleagues within the Stonehenge Tribunal as another magus who might be interested in some of the same matters that I am. As such, I venture to approach you in the spirit of academic and hermetic comradeship and the desire not to offend but to forge a friendship of mutual respect and knowledge.

   7 > There are too matters in which I hope to engage your interest, the first is that one my main areas of research is the intersection of beauty, thought and magic. One area of this that I am especially interested in and upon which I wondered if I might enter into regular correspondence with you, is that of wisdom and the beauty of thought itself, especially in relation to its impact on magic. From the admittedly, very limited, understanding I have of your house, I believe there may be an intersection between my interests and yours which might benefit both of us to discuss.

  19 > Your unnamed colleague of Stonehenge recommended me, no doubt, on the strength of my reputation, such as it is, of being a correspondent, and indeed I do like to share and discuss my findings with as wide a selection of the learned as I can. Accordingly, I welcome your approach in the spirit it was intended and accept your desire to build links across the hermetic order.

  23 > Still, a failure can frequently be instructive, even if not precisely in the manner expected; and the nature of apt action as it relates to the theory of magic is one of the less impenetrable topics, especially to one who has already studied ethics to some degree. Accordingly, I would be willing to enter into a correspondence on either of the topics you suggest, though I suspect you will find magical theory more immediately approachable. I am not sure how frequently we will be able to exchange letters; the lines of communication across the border from Cordoba are not always open, alas.
