**Ring of Masculinity**
: Turns the human wearer into a man whilst they wear the ring.
: Has no effect on pregnant women (Limit of Essential Nature).
: I'm not sure if this is a 4th or 5th mag effect, but either way it
doesn't cause warping unless used "continuously".
[[!template id=multicol contents="""
: Claudine has the exclusive use of one of the covenant's horses.
: Currently this is a geldling called [[Madcap|Animals/Madcap]].
Claudine did her apprenticeship at Harco. At some point after that
she became a member of the Society of Goliards; however she doesn't
usually talk about her life before coming to the Stonehenge Tribunal
in 1207 seeking to leave the Mediterranean which she was beginning to
find uncomfortably warm.
Since then she has lived a comparatively staid life for a Goliard;
finding delight in the day to day tasks of librarianship and
satisfying her urge to travel with her Redcap work. She also makes
trips to covenants and other libraries in order to copy their books;
and frequently travels as a man to pursude this end. There are many
monasteries in Britain and Normandy that have been visited by a
wandering "Brother Claude".
She has an unfortunate habit of consuming ergot fungus disolved in
alchohol; which she claims inspires her art. Perhaps it does.
Certainly anyone finding snails assaulting knights in the margins of
the libraries' books could reasonably believe so. Trips away from the
covenant also take her way from this vice but she does suffer
She is currently being trained how to bind books and illuminate them.
Her usual assignment as a redcap is deliveries to the mundanes. She
also steps in when one of the other redcaps is unable to do deliveries.
: Moments after speaking with her,
very few people can give an adequate
description of her. She often gets
away with things because people are
not sure it was actually her. If other
characters must make a roll to identify
: +3 bonus on all roes to create a new work of art.
: +1 bonus on all rolls involving subtle manipulation of objects
and one fewer botch dice (to a min of 1). Does not apply to archery,
but does apply to musical instruments.
: +3 bonus to rolls involving hearing.
: Patron is Edward, of course.
: Ergot fungus disolved in alcohol.
: She can stave off the
boredom for a while, but if she remains
in one place for more than a season,
she suffers a –1 penalty to all rolls and
totals until she experiences a change
in scene. This penalty rises to –3 af-
ter a year of boredom.
: "When engaged in combat, or a
similar violent and tense situation, the
stress might trigger a flashback to the
horrors of past battles, which left this
character mentally scarred. The hallu-
cinations seem so real that it is hard
to avoid reacting to them. When an
event appropriate for the Flashbacks
occurs, roll a stress die against an Ease
Factor of 9. On a failure, the charac-
ter panics and revert to his past night-
mares. At the storyguide’s discretion,
modifiers from –1 to –5 could apply,
for things like full-scale battle, fires,
or stampeding animals. In addition,
add or subtract any relevant Personal-
ity Traits, depending on whether they
might lessen or worsen the effects of
this Flaw." -- in this case the Flashbacks are ergot-use trip
flashbacks; probably in practice similar to LSD flashbacks.
: When she enters an infernal aura of strength 4 or more; or is
affected by an infernal power greater than the 4th magnitude she
suffers spontaneous eruption of wounds. She loses a Long-Term Fatigue
level while under the influence of this; when the Fatigue level
recovers the stigmata fades. If she
ever takes a Warping point from exposure
her stigmata erupt so violently that she takes a
Light Wound as well as Fatigue, and
the stigmata remain until she recovers
from this wound. This should also be considered a potential Flashback
: Obsession is to the Schola library being the best.
Warped Senses - Sensitive to Heat
: Claudine functions normally at temperatures considerably below the
norm for the Stonehenge Tribunal. She loses 1
Fatigue level for every hour she spends in an
environment "Tropical mid-day" or hotter. Her response to ice is
reduced in intensity to 0 (see ArM5, page 181).
Claudine gets 15 xp per year. Two points of these should be applied
as exposure to skills as relating to her Redcap duties, two as
exposure to skills relating to her Librarian duties. The remaining 11
should be divided between Bookbinder, Illuminator, Painting, Latin,
and Area Lore unless circumstances intervene.
Inside the library Claudine is pretty much the model librarian; she
worries about the integrity of the books and always has a cheerful (if
brief and quiet) word for people using the library.
Outside the library she is very goal-oriented. Once her goal is
achieved she's not above stopping to sniff the flowers though and
she's not very good at predicting the consequences of her actions.
The one thing that will distract her (absent of her Compulsion, which
is fortunately hard to indulge in Stonehenge outside of her own room)
is the chance to acquire a new book.
Generally she takes care of her Compulsion in the quiet of her own
room at the Schola and tries to keep it from affecting other people.
Sadly she doesn't have any control over flashbacks. She has in the
general case been able to explain flashbacks away to mundanes as being
a result of divine exstasy (it's not entirely uncommon for wandering
monks to be a little bit odd).
She is completely unaware of her reaction to the Infernal and may well
freak out. On the other hand it's a fairly common reaction so if she
maintains her calm she ought to be able to guess at what is going on.
