  31 > Georgios was born in Alexandria in 1120 AD. He was identified young as gifted despite his gentle gift by a retired Redcap who arranged his apprenticeship with House Verditius in the covenant of Ingasia. He never mentions his parens’ name and while records in House Verditius or individual elderly mages might remember it, it is otherwise lost to time.

  33 > An excellent mage, he was quiet and bookish and desperately loved his magic. He spent years in Ingasia's library, travelled to Verdi to consult more books there, seldom made many items  and his powers grew rapidly and powerfully. He bound a magical hound as his familiar and was seen as a rising star of his house.

  35 > His desire to learn all the mysteries of the house was his undoing as his rapidly growing hubris drove him to make both enemies and mistakes. His biggest one was that he got into a vendetta with a far more politically astute mage. In 1180 this came to a head. None outside the house know why he was expelled but it is widely known by those who study these things that he was forced to seek sanctuary with the Ordo Ex Miscellanea as an Orbus mage.

  37 > Embittered and angry, Georgios swore off magic for years, refusing to work for anyone. Instead he immersed himself in mundane society and passing himself off as a student in Constantinople. His age and maturity did well for him and he quickly progressed to become the Greek Chair of Theology.  He never went to tribunal and largely refused all contact with mages. Further, he refused to be part of any covenant, telling the redcaps that his was the Covenant of Georgios. Over time however, he became successful and wealthy as an academic and had finally begun to work magic again when he met his apprentice-to-be Alexios. He had also started an exhaustive study of the Dominion and its effects which was the subject of his only major book of arcane lore; a summa on the dominion that summarised all he had learned from years of study in Constantinople's libraries as well as his own observations.

  39 > Following the destruction of Constantinople, Georgios’ world was shattered again and he and his apprentice fled, practically penniless and without even copies of Georgios' own books let alone those they possessed. After a year of wandering, they settled in Bologna where Georgios' reputation allowed him to take the exams for Magister and then Doctor in short order (although he was seen with Rome suspicion due yo his orthodox practices and the fact he was not a priest). Given the perilous state of their finances and his desire to regain the life of luxury he had now lost twice, Georgios decided to quickly build his wealth back up through sales of magical items. He is the only wizard of the Order in Bologna now that Alexios has left but he still has no interest in involving himself with those who wronged him; the only tribunal he has attended since being forced from House Verditius was in 1214 when he presented his apprentice and then left immediately.

  41 > Georgios is generally sociable and enjoys using his wealth to host grand parties but only with non-hermetics. He gets on relatively well with ungifted redcaps but they and Alexios are about the only people within the order he is willing to have much to do with.

  46 > De facto, Georgios’ palazzo in Bologna is the Covenant of Bologna. Although since Alexios left, Georgios is the only mage there and he has no intention of inviting others unless he finds another potential apprentice within the students of Bologna. Georgios only moved there in 1212; after he had the shell built by masons, he and Alexios largely built the rest with rego and creo magic. He and Alexios had discovered that there was a natural lacuna in the dominion aura of Bologna there (due to an underground temple to the goddess Hecate which also provides Georgios with a source of vim vis). Georgios had the previous buildings that surrounded it knocked down and had the current house built over and around it.

  48 > The palazzo is a huge building on the Via Clavatura. It is modern in style on the outside, made of massive stone with small barred windows and an arched gate (nearly always closed fast) that opens into a small courtyard. This is a false front which opens into a larger courtyard which has a separate small round and statue-adorned building within it. This is where the lacuna is and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The lacuna is not large and largely only covers Georgios’ laboratory (which is very large), a small ceremonial casting chamber is also included within it and a separate small laboratory which is dedicated to teaching and texts (and was briefly Alexios’ lab while he worked alone here) that is not much used) and a small garden.

  50 >The main feature of the palazzo other than the laboratories are the receiving rooms which Georgios has set up in the front of the palazzo and the library which is magnificently furnished and filled with tomes. Georgios is obsessed with getting his hands on any and every book he can that was looted from Byzantium, as such the majority of the books are mundane but it is one of the best mundane libraries in the Order. Georgios also has a very small number of arcane books. He does pay well for such books but he refuses to trade in favours with any but a close friend and is obsessive about repaying any perceived favour (or slight).

  52 > There are a number of servants within the palazzo and Georgios has a secretary he uses to sell magical items when needs more money (seldom done now he has completed the palazzo). There are two retired mercenaries who act as door guards but Georgios is exceptionally wealthy by most standards and hires additional guards to protect him whenever there are student riots.

  54 > The palazzo is protected by an Aegis of the Hearth. Georgios knows two versions of this spell, a magnitude 8 and a magnitude 5 version. he normally uses the magnitude 5 one on the entire palazzo but if necessary could put a more powerful ward around the smaller building that houses his laboratory and stay defended there.

  56 > Georgios has a few vis sources within the city and an insatiable appetite for vis. He mostly gets vis by selling magical items for just slightly less than the Verditius standard price and using the profits to fund his own efforts. He also has a personal vis source of rego and has claimed within the order a small number of sources he has found in the city. He is in competition with the learned magicians of Bologna for these but this is mostly amicable, as he respects them and does not see them as threatening.
