I had an interesting conversation with a NatWest rep recently when requesting
it be disabled on one of my cards - all it seemed they were able to do was
delete the account associated with the card. Not mark the card as opted out.

[I'd enabled it in the card in January as a short term measure, but forgot to disable it]

The woman claimed that I'd simply not be able to use the card online with
retailers that have opted in to the scheme unless I create an account.

Similarly with any other card not yet opted in - I'd have to opt them in,
or not buy from that retailer. Which _is_ a choice, but not the sort
of choice I was hoping for.
