There has been nothing in the announcements I've seen to date from BT to
indicate they are backing away from DPI-based profiling/data
gathering/selling in the long term and also no acknowledgement of privacy
concerns.  Indeed BT spokesman Mike Jarvis told the BBC:

"[Our decision has] nothing to do with cost or privacy, it's about resources
and priority," he added.
