Note the last time I had much involvement with the subscriber side of
any ISP was dealing with dialup, somebody with more recent experience
can jump in and correct me if the below is now wrong=85
The DSLAM may limit the connection speed based on line quality, but if
you are paying for a particular service level then I would expect that
to be policed by your own ISP, wherever they terminate your circuit at
the IP layer. For each "circuit" a virtual interface will be created,
that interface will download it's configuration from your Radius
profile, based on the login used.
The terms to search for used to be LAC and LNS and I think they would
still apply.
