Indeed, though it affects the police more widely. They want mass media
coverage when it suits them, but want to keep the mass media away
otherwise.
An example outwith London was the recent political operation by the
police to blacken the name of the aid convoy to Palestine and reduce
the amount of money it collected. I doubt very much if the first
photograph on <http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1145422/Terror-
police-arrest-men-travelling-motorway-North-West.html> was taken
without the help of the police, indeed they were probably actively
involved in having it taken, as they have been actively involved in
having photographs taken at other political policing events. The police
were not so keen to get the mass media to report that the victims of
this political operation were released without charge. The press
release at <http://www.vivapalestina.org/alerts/190209.htm> is worth
reading about how this smear looks to those outside the tent.
And the Home Office believes that these idiots can be trusted with my
data. They can prise my keys from my cold dead fingers.
