Internet to be modernised at long last

Ahem. First of all, CB radio was far more than a fad - it was massively 
useful for long-distance drivers of all kinds. When it largely died it 
wasn';t because of passing fashion but because of **cell phones**. That 
said, there are parts of the US where it's still damn useful (because 
long distances between broken down gas stations aren't exactly full of 
masts.)

SL: still in use by businesses. IBM saves a small fortune by holding 
virtual meetings there. Also beloved by certain groups of cult users. 
For most people, though, it's difficult to get started unless you know 
people already or share one of those specific interests. And 
journalists, who write the articles, find Twitter much, much more 
useful, so...
