Wasn't someone recently ridiculed here for not knowing what "DPI"
stands for?

On-demand wiretapping doesn't need DPI. You may need a new license
from your router vendor, and a mediation device. Chances are very
good that the routers themselves already support it. After all,
vendors sell them in markets where on-demand wiretappping is a legal
requirement, and some of the interception capabilities really improve
your diagnostic capabilities (and customer satisfaction). It's likely
that quite a few UK ISPs already use this technology, especially those
operating globally.
