The military use these - and call them macerators.  Used for disposal of 
all sorts of interesting kit.  Not coin operated last time I used one, 
but I would not put that past the current bunch of charlatans.  I'm not 
sure what the unit cost is but they are satisfying to use.

There are other "macerators" in military use, but they are used in the 
plumbing (effluent not nuclear) systems of submarines.
