I don't know: BHX is my local airport, so I've never had reason to
transfer through it. I know that when I've flown into T2 I've seen no
sign of the airside facilities, which implies I was routed through
distinct areas, but I'm most often in T1 (whatever Jersey European is
called this week). That has no segregation at all except, bizarrely,
for flights in from Northern Ireland. Still.
