Personally I would agree with you.

But this perhaps bears comparison with a court instructing Google to
hand over the log details of all the people who have viewed YouTube
videos - regardless of whether or not such videos were actually
copyright of the plaintiff.

So those whose sole interaction has been to watch my daughter's
animations on YouTube are having their traffic details handed over to a
third party.

This also seems to be to be not very proportionate, and of little use.

But for some reason, those seeking access to such data (and those
prepared to grant and enforce it) often seem to be working to principles
that do not seem either proportionate or likely to be particularly
useful.
