Most GPs with such views make it perfectly obvious.

It was amusing, albeit depressing, to ask biology teachers in schools  
we were looking at for our daughters what they did about teaching  
evolution.  Several obviously assumed that anyone asking that  
question was a religious nutcase and gave complex answers about  
``sensitive faith positions''.  We crossed those schools off the  
list.  I should have worn a cross around my neck to lure out a few  
more panderers.

Similarly, I intend to quiz my GP about her attitude to prescribing  
contraception without parental consent, and if I get anything  
significantly different to ``we regard the confidentiality of Gillick- 
competent patients as absolute, and it's not our job to fix any  
problems you have communicating with your daughters'' I shall change  
doctor.  The handy thing is that most people asking the question are  
the controlling religious types, so asking the question draws out  
both the moral-conservatives and the panderers.  Again, a cross  
around my neck and ostentatiously displaying my wedding ring might help.

I'd like to think that if my daughters went to get contraception I'd  
know, or my wife would, and I/we/she would have discussed it with  
them.  If we didn't know, then it's not the doctor's role to tell  
us.  That was the mystery in the Gillick case: she claimed that she  
enjoyed a perfect open relationship with her children, so what was  
her problem?

I don't know, which is why I'm perfectly happy to be spending a day

the at-risk register beckons.  At 14?  Harder question.
