"Warrants authorising phone taps treble" is the headline of the story
at <http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/latestnews/Warrants-authorising-
phone-taps-.3719187.jp>

More interestingly the story continues, "THE number of warrants
authorising spy operations north of the Border have almost trebled,
according to new statistics released yesterday.

"However, the figures emerged as Britain's spying watchdog said
telephone taps and other "intercept" material should not be used in
court cases.

"Sir Paul Kennedy, the Interception of Communications Commissioner,
said he believed any benefits of a change in the law would be "heavily
outweighed" by the disadvantages."

After a struggle I discovered <http://www.ipt-
uk.com/default.asp?sectionID=16> but this appears to have no reports by
the new bod. Is there anywhere where us plebs may get a copy of this
report?
