One of the 'freebies' that comes with one of my bank accounts is an
identity fraud pack- i register details and, if anything goes wrong, i
let them know and everything is taken care of. Not had to test it yet,
but they're fairly well respected....
Filing a police report for theft and being fairly insistent is
usually a winner - i think if you are insistent, you can get banks to
take your side. (i know when i've had problems with my egg credit card
and fraud, they've refunded the money, taken care of me - including
doing a balance transfer to a new account setup (which meant i got the
cashback on the transfer, w00t!) and then refunding my interest owed
for that month....
