This is an open request to the Home Office, relayed via UKCrypto@ and
via Simon Watkin (who has undoubted influence in such matters).

It seems we shall be shortly be having a consultation on the activation
of Part III of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and the
creation of a Code of Practice for its operation.

As we have often been promised, we may even get a consultation on a
Code of Practice for the operation of Part I Chapter II of the RIP
Act 2000 -- which has been running without such Code of Practice
    since 5th January 2004 !

Would it be possible (since it is clearly desirable to properly
illuminate the discussion) for the Home Office to provide the _current_
text of the Act online ?

For example it has been extensively amended by the Serious Organised
Crime and Police Act 2005 (to ensure SOCA inherited appropriate powers)
as well as by the Terrorism Act 2006. There may be more changes in
other legislation that have passed me by...

Also, would it be possible (and this is probably, based on past
experience even harder) to provide some working links on the Home Office
website ? The text:

    Document 'http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2003/20033172.htm' not found
    in 'hmso-new'

doesn't exactly inspire confidence that any other link is currently
functional :(
