For those of you who have been having difficulty trying to Copy and
Paste from the RIPA Part III Consultation and Draft Code of
Practice (.pdf) document published by the Home Office, you might
care to make use of the HTML version of the text, now available at
the new Spy Blog mini-blog:

RIPA Part III consultation blog
http://www.spy.org.uk/ripa3

Please feel free to add any comments on the separate sections of
the documents, which will be summarised in the Spy Blog submission
to the Public Consultation, which ends on 30th August.

Think back to those balmy (or perhaps barmy) days, when Charles
Clarke MP was the junior Under Secretary of State for Policing at
the Home Office, under Home Secretary Jack Straw, and Nigel Hickson
seemed to be the Bravest Civil Servant in the Land, trying to
engage with critics of RIPA.

Is it time for another "Scrambling for Safety" event on this topic
?

Or have the personal attacks by Home Office Ministers etc. on the
London School of Economics and their academics, over the Identity
Project Report, made this sort of event impossible ?

regards

Mark
