Anyone know more about this BT "uk identity verification" scheme?

Some long time ago, as an 18 year old, my bank accepted my father's word
that I am who he said I am. Since they are now part of the banking group who
advertise their "local knowledge", I'm waiting to see what they will do if
they adopt the pose that Nicholas encountered. I live 250 miles away from
the bank branch and have not physically darkened its doors for 20 years....
Actually, from the cheques that I issue, it has plenty of evidence that I am
'active in society', and from correspondence it has evidence that I am
active from the address that they have.
