The fact that private e-mail does leek out onto the web has its
practical uses.

We deal with a UK company that can only be contacted via e-mail and a
FAX number and whose postal address is a box number. They were failing
to respond to messages from us and we needed a response urgently.

A 5 minute search of the web turned up copies of private e-mail
correspondence between the CEO of this company and an international
standards organisation. One e-mail contained his name and his personal
telephone number so I was able to phone him and sort out the matter
directly. It gave me quite an advantage when dealing with him.=20

It was very satisfying and infinitely preferable to trying to resolve
problems via a call centre. :-)=20
