A friend of mine, an excellent, award-winning journalist (and someone
who's commissioned me for some rather lucrative gigs) has asked me to
post this wherever I thought it might do some good.
My new book, 'Homeland', a mammoth six-year journey into the heart of
extremism and the extreme right, is shortly to be published. Many of you
will already know me, and of this work. I wouldn't normally be so crass
as to keep pushing myself into your intray. However, without a huge
sales and marketing budget, I really am relying on word-of-mouth to help
me promote this work. I hope some of you will be tempted to buy/pre-
order it at http://www.homelandbook.com (UK and international orders)
and also to let others you know, in media or personal contacts, about
its publication. I'd be extremely grateful for any help you can provide
in getting the work known.
I honestly believe it is unique. There is nothing else like this out
there. In a (publishing) world full of pap and short-termist fads, this
stands out. That's what those who've read it so far have said. Part-
adventure story, part-social commentary, it delves deep into the
psychology of extremists and extremism, expressed through my encounters
with an international far-right network. It's also written as a journey
and personal story, something that the lay reader can pick up and
hopefully "enjoy".
If you don't feel this is relevant, please don't laugh at or lambast me,
just delete this post. If, however, you'd like to read something
powerful, and rather different to your usual fare, please look out for
this book when it's published at the end of the month.
I'm appending a sample press release below. Feel free to forward this to
any friends or colleagues (and note the comment from Heather!).
With best wishes - and thanks,
Nick

Imagine...
You're alone. Trapped in a pub with soccer hooligans, paramilitaries
connected to a violent white power music scene, as their gang leader is
sentenced for murder. Or unmasked in a hotel in North Carolina, by
henchmen of the world's most infamous neo-nazi. And then get invited to
a gathering of Holocaust deniers in Beirut. You meet a US Presidential
candidate, once revered by the white supremacists you've just
befriended. Then encounter the political zealots rising within the heart
of Europe.
These are just some of the events that award-winning writer Nick Ryan
describes in a six-year journey into the terrifying arena of white
nationalism. Moving from the backstreets and pubs of London, to
international terrorist cells in Scandinavia, and onwards to the smiling
zealots of the USA and Europe, Homeland: Into a World of Hate unravels
the chilling story behind the growth of right-wing extremism - told
through the lives of those living it.
---
Nick Ryan's Homeland is already being hailed as a potential classic.
With comparisons to Orwell's non-fiction, it is powerful first-person
reportage, a six-year journey into the heart of extremism and the
extreme right. Spanning four continents, moving from British neo-nazi
gangs to US Presidential candidates and Europe's political zealots,
Homeland is a gripping adventure and social commentary, a truly unique
account of the underbelly of modern society.
Describing how he builds trust with the men and women at the heart of
such movements, Ryan depicts a search for identity, belonging and
belief, as he travels through an interconnected network of both violent
and political extremists. His encounters include:
*befriending British neo-nazi gang Combat 18, then British National
Party leader Nick Griffin *tracking the London nailbomber, then
uncovering an international terrorist campaign *hunting the elusive Dr
Pierce, the world's leading neo-nazi ideologue *travelling to the Middle
East for a conference of Holocaust deniers and anti-Zionist Arabs
*encountering lone wolves, US Presidential candidates, fundamentalist
racist Christians, and professional Holocaust revisionists, as he lives
with the BNP's man in America *dealing with political zealots in
Holland, Austria, Sweden and Belgium, including senior politicians
*witnessing the huge scale of intolerance and violence inside Germany's
"liberated zones" in the former East, as Kameradschaften networks
attempt to revive a Fourth Reich *encountering other networks of
zealots, including anti-capitalists, Loyalists, etc.
