"To Highlight Homeland Security Activities, BXA Renamed BIS 
The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Export Administration ("BXA")
officially has been renamed the "Bureau of Industry and Security" ("BIS").
This name change does not reflect any substantive change in activities --
the agency still administers export licensing and controls on dual-use
items.  Rather, the new name is intended to highlight the agency’s homeland
security responsibilities, defense trade advocacy, and critical
infrastructure protection work.  The BIS website can be found at
http://www.bis.doc.gov."
