I spoke to DS Deats yesterday when I was following up the story for National
News, a London-based agency. He was adamant that the encryption software
these two used was commonly available - ie at the low end of the scale. He
also was very keen to point out that the new National Hi-tech Crime Unit was
not opposed to encryption. Without checking my notes, I recall that he said
there were lots/dozens/hundreds of legitimate uses for encryption software.
