Which all boils down again to monopolies (absence of choice and
competition) being the really bad things here, not hardware-support for
copy protection.

P.S.:
As a free software advocate, I personally remain highly enthusiastic of
any proposed hardware extension designed to prevent too many people from
using Microsoft/Adobe/Oracle/etc. products. The social benefits can't
be overestimated ...
