[OT-ish] How big is the UK 'net?

After my problem with not being able to a good price for ADSL from my ISP, I
had a long conversation with an Oftel person. She explained that they only
regulate pricing for internet services, and they only regulate a very tiny
part of that sector: ensuring that BT's wholesale price for a service is
below BT's retail price.

But, more recently, I have seen something in the papers suggesting they
might get more involved.

Oftel should start insisting on availability as well as affordability,
