National ID Cards

I hope you will allow this message even though it may be slightly off topic.

ITsecurity.com is starting a page devoted to public opinions on UK National
ID Cards. It is meant to provide an open and visible debate over the next
six months, and everybody is invited to include their opinions. Arguments
for and against are welcome, and wishes for anonymity will be honoured.

I don't expect this to be a very learned debate, but it will probably
reflect the views of the average businessman. It will also serve as an
outlet for views that will probably not otherwise reach the Home Office.

ITsecurity.com is a 'business' rather than 'academic' security site - but
members of UKcrypto are invited to add their comments and opinions,
hopefully to raise the level of the debate and to introduce some of the
less obvious arguments to the business community. It is hoped that the
debate will be international rather than limited to UK citizens.

The page should be available by 10 July. The URL will be
http://www.itsecurity.com/idcards.htm. The address for comments is
idcards@itsecurity.com.

Thank you.
