I'm aware that (as usual, for me, I fear), I'm drifting further off topic,
but pursuant to someone (Richard Clayton?)'s mention of connectivity not
through dial up, I think this is going to be a much greater issue.
At home, I subscribe to FreeservePlus (their ADSL service). One assumed
that we have a POP3 account provided by Freeserve as a result. I have
never bothered finding out how to check it (indeed, it's just occurred to
me that it would prolly be where they would send us mails to say
everything's going down for an hour, or what have you, and so I ought check
it). Everyone who might possibly use our ADSL connexion at home already
has personal email accounts (several of them, usually).
I would expect the incidence of not using the ISP's own mail systems would
increase as broadband use increases.
Not that this changes anything in the discussion over store&forward email.
Or where things are hosted, internationally. Aamoi, do blah@yahoo.co.uk
accounts have their mail stored over here or in the US? :o)
