RE: PGP source codeI would say that [somebody somewhere] probably still =
does - the main page news of http://www.x86.org/news/hotnews.htm has =
articles dated today and the sister/mother site of http://www.ddj.com/ =
certainly seems up to date. I agree that the undocumented research =
stuff has not been updated but maybe it has not been made public ?
In light of the current sweeping abuses of the DMCA and similar =
legislation I don't find that surprising ;-)
IMHO it is a strange world were it is legal to sell shoddy and flawed =
"security solutions" for large amounts of cash, but illegal to prove =
that said solution is shoddy and flawed. Yes your software may contain =
a "back door" but you will be prosecuted if you go looking for it and =
tell anyone.
Hmmm... this is progress yes ? At one time AFAICR, it was legal to =
reverse engineer software purely for the purposes of researching =
undocumented interfaces or something ? Perhaps one of you legal chaps =
could comment ?
Cheers,
JJ (who wonders how long it will be before it is illegal to =
reverse engineer source code...;-)
