EU moves to harmonise intellectual property law

A draft directive is being drawn up in Brussels, which aims to harmonise
the way national governments protect intellectual property rights within
the European Union.

I guess this is the start of software patents then...   Not mentioned in
the story,  but the EU patent office has to dig itself out of that hole
somehow...
