It is not about "his story" but is for the most part a well sourced
history of the military conflict going back to previous centuries.

Where he makes reference to unattributable sources everyone can make
their own judgment about them.

I do not know the chap myself nor much of his history but he writes as
an author and as a journalist about murky areas of military activity. He
is as critical of the actions of the IRA as he is of some of the actions
of the British Army and the British Government.=20

As an ex-soldier yourself why do you denigrate his right to publish his
scholarship and research in this area? Come to that why is he any more
likely to end up "dossing on the Embankment" than you?

If you took the trouble to read the dedication in the book and the book
itself you might be less inclined to comment as you have.
