Hmmmm..

Talking of news groups, there is another problem here. You do not know what 
is in (or attached to ) a news message without retrieving it! Does the act 
of asking for a message, file, whatever constitute an offence even if you 
could not reasonably know the exact contents without downloading it? I ould 
ahve thought that 'retention' of the applicable data would be more 
appropriate in such a case. Anyone have any experience of this?

Also, on the subject of article numbers, are these universal among all news 
servers or does each news server maintain it's own catalogue? Just curious.
