Hi List,
I am afraid that I have to announce that I am leaving Oxford
to take up a new position in industry. For this reason, I will be unable
to administer UKCrypto and have arranged to hand the reigns over to
Stephen Early <steve@greenend.org.uk> who is happy to take up the running
of this list. The list is moving to chiark.greenend.org.uk; see
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/ukcrypto for more
information, and to access the list archives. It has a lot of new
features that have commonly been requested (e.g. a digest form of the
list).
The changeover to the new list will occur at 2pm on Tuesday 3rd October,
and will be managed as follows:
1. some time before the changeover, you will receive a 'Welcome' message
from the new list address. This message will contain a password which you
need to manage your subscription (change options, unsubscribe, etc.)
2. at 2pm on the 3rd October the current list submission address,
<ukcrypto@maillist.ox.ac.uk>, will start forwarding messages to the
new submission address. A confirmation message will be sent; once you
have received it you can start using the new submission address, which
is <ukcrypto@chiark.greenend.org.uk>. Messages sent to
<ukcrypto-owner@maillist.ox.ac.uk>, <owner-ukcrypto@maillist.ox.ac.uk> and
<ukcrypto-approval@maillist.ox.ac.uk> will be forwarded to Stephen Early
automatically although again you should start using the new address as
soon as possible. Please do not send subscription problems to
goodyer@well.ox.ac.uk or whgu0007@ermine.ox.ac.uk after the changeover
time.
3. shortly after the move the list archive at chiark will be updated
with the last few messages sent through Oxford.
It has been a very interesting time and UKCrypto has built a reputation as
a very influential medium that has actually seemed to influence government
policy on a number of occasions. I am sure that, under Stephen's
guidance, it will continue to do so in the coming months.
It has been a great pleasure to administer such a high quality list over
the last three years. I will remain subscribed lurking in the background,
following the events and occasionally even posting something.
Many thanks to you all,
ian
