Some UK universities which tried that (including this one, not 100
metres from UCL) also have students on their staff... in my case with
responsibility for computer security (amongst other things). So in the
end you have to trust people.

Totally off-topic, if you think that there are too many Carl Ellisons to
search for, try being called by a really common name. Searching Google
for "Ken Brown" turns up 662,000 hits (& Alta Vista gets a lot more). We
are far more numerous than all those Carls Ellison. I used to work at a
large company which employed 6 people with my name, or similar. The
first one which is really me is on the 17th page of Google (an archive
of a posting in ukcrypto at deniability.org) Alta Vista has a pointer
to Gary Westfahl's http://www.sfsite.com/interzone/gary only 10 pages in
- know I know Gary slightly and I havbe been a frequent contributor to
Interzone magazine, but as far as I can tell that page has nothing to do
with me, which is spooky. The next batch has something I said about John
Brunner, so as usual Alta Vista beats Google...
