I'm afraid it's not just our american cousins who take things
at face value - it only takes a miscreant to claim that "the internent
made me do it" for shock-horror stories to appear in the press
(including the so called qualities). Reminds me rather of the moral
panic about video nasties in the '80s. It's some comfort that, unlike the
FBI, Observer journalists aren't armed!
