Even when you help them do brilliant camera stuff it doesn't
necessarily help.

My first dealing with them was in about 1992 or 1993 in the
context of the McConville versus Barclays case on phantom
withdrawals. We had Barclays bang to rights - filmed a
journalist using his card (which we'd modified slightly)
withdrawing money from another journalist's account.

Paxman screwed up completely and let the Man from Barclays
walk all over him.

But then we never got a chance to brief him directly - he
seems to operate from a short crib sheet provided to him by
one of his flunkies. Bit like a government minister, really

So I wouldn't go off into conspiracy theory land over this
one
