In a follow-up piece dated 9th June 2000, this local rag was
"happy to publish the following statement from Staffordshire
Police in the interests of trying to set the record straight
on the true position".
It says that "nearly 500 members of Staffordshire police have
volunteered DNA samples ...".
The statement fails to mention that this still means that the
majority - over 800 - have not volunteered.
