Charles Clarke strikes back

Isn't Charles Clarke in very much the same position as the minions
who accompanied him to SfS? They aren't allowed to have/express
opinions of their own. Is he so much better off? He has to 
be seen to be a good little doggie, as defined by Jack Straw and
Tony Blair. Charles Clarke may know perfectly well he's talking
nonsense, much like spokespersons for cigarette companies.
