I could see it being very messy if Virgin.net tried to enforce their
copyright transfer condition.  Obviously there can be no transfer of
copyright if there is no writing.  But then you have a situation similar
to the cases on informal transfers of land.  It is possible that
equitable ownership of the copyright might pass to Virgin while legal
ownership stayed with the subscriber.

No...  The wrapper from a chocolate bar, marriage and a peppercorn have
all been held to be good consideration for a contract.
