The list may be interested to know that the Law Society has set up a group
under the chairmanship of Tony Girling, a past President, to look at the
legal implications of electronic communications, with particular reference
to security and authentication.  I have been asked to serve on a subgroup
considering the policy of the European Union on these issues.

(For overseas list members:  the Law Society represents the solicitors
profession in England and Wales; solicitors being, at the risk of some
oversimplification, the general practice half of the legal profession.)
