US to Ease Crypto Export

Have been attending the UpDate 98 where Daley made his speech. Specific
guidelines as well as new definition of financial institutions are still in
interagency review for final wording, fine tuning and will probably also be
reviewed by BXA legal counsel. Could be a week to end of month before they
are out. Although it can be considered an easing of US Crypto Export
policy, many of the banks and financial institutions do and have qualify,
under individual licenses, for high levels(over 56-bit) of encryption.
We were told they would post the new guidlines on the BXA web page as soon
as they are approved.
