Colleagues =

Just read a whole load of =

E Mails on this; so despite the hour a couple of facts: =

Ireland: As the text (which someone found) makes clear; Ireland is membe=
r
of Wassenaar and hence is bound by controls on crypto. Also it is a memb=
er
of EU and hence the Dual Use Good Regulation applies. Latter is directly=

applicable which (and Mr Bohm may correct me here) means it applies to al=
l
people exporting from Ireland irrespective of what Government says. So
expoerters (as Baltimore will confirm) are subject to export controls but=

to GSN waiver as are UK exporters. =

DTI: We are not all brain dead. I am not responsible for new White Pape=
r
(XNP are) but it does not suggest repealing GSN or altering OGELs. It ju=
st
suggests (as EU have done) that where a product is controlled (eg
encryption software) the intangible export of that (by fax or E mail)
should also be. =
