Position:  Technical Writer 1

Based in Vancouver, this company is a leading Canadian Pharmaceutical
company dedicated to the development of medical device coatings and
treatments for chronic inflammatory diseases through reformulation of
the anticancer drug, paclitaxel.  

They are currently looking to hire a Technical Writer

Location:  Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA

Summary of Function/Scope of Position:

Provide support to the CEO, VP, Intellectual Property, Chief Scientific
Officer and scientists with writing patents and scientific documents,
performing extensive literature research and summarizing information.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Work with technical directors and scientists in the compilation and
drafting of relevant and complete information for patent applications.
Provide intellectual property support through library searches, market
research, in-depth reading, interpreting and summarizing information.
Conduct scientific literature research, review results and summarize
findings.  

Supervise projects requiring more than one writer.  Liaise with the
Company's scientists, management and employees to review and approve any
proposed publications.  Collaborate and cooperate with other members of
the company to ensure an efficient flow of information and coordination
of work.  Supply information to analysts doing research on the Company
and proofread analyst reports for publication as required.

Education and Experience: 

PhD or MSc in biology, physiology or biochemistry.  3-4 years experience
performing scientific and technical writing.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Outstanding verbal and oral communication skills.  Good interpersonal
skills.  Proven ability to perform technical information retrieval,
research and analysis.  Knowledge of scientific information sources both
print and electronic as well as patents and the patent process.  Highly
developed editorial/proof-reading skills.  Ability to set priorities and
schedules.  Must be thorough, detail-oriented and methodical.  Ability
to work independently and in a team environment essential.
