Hi all, I'm not affiliated with Debian, simply a long time user. Not a programmer - basic knowledge of shell, Perl and Python. I'm very keen on helping in any way I can and was wondering if I would be of any use. I've got some hardware if needed. That's cool. Coming to a BSP is a good way to get more involved if you want to. There's always some things for people to do, whether that's testing and triaging existing bugs or helping people to work through issues. Plus, it's an easy way to meet more people and socialise while you're at it! :-) -- Steve McIntyre, Cambridge, UK. steve at einval.com "I suspect most samba developers are already technically insane... Message-ID: Dear All, Sorry that this is a bit off of the usual centre of gravity of this list in topic space, but... I (newly) have a Debian system in a chroot on Android. On this system, every time I try to apt-get install ca-certificates-java (version 20100412), the installation process gets as far as printing "creating /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts..." (I think this message comes from line 111 of ca-certificates-java.postinst), then the system reboots. There is a known similar behaviour with openssh-server, which results from sshd starting to listen on IPv6 by default (cf. ). So: does anyone know whether the installation process for ca-certificates-java would be expected to use any IPv6 connections - and if so, whether it can be configured to use IPv4 instead - please? Thanks in advance. -- Kind regards, Dan From vi5u0-debianuk at yahoo.co.uk Sun Feb 5 17:07:18 2012 From: vi5u0-debianuk at yahoo.co.uk (Dan) Date: Sun, 5 Feb 2012 17:07:18 +0000 (GMT) Subject: [Debian-uk] Crashes during apt-get install ca-certificates-java: IPv6 involvement? Thanks Simon. Sadly, that didn't do the trick. I did: mv /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java-raw then put the following script at /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java: #!/usr/bin/perl system("/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java-raw -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true " . @ARGV) ; ... but still have the same reboot problem when I try to apt-get install ca-certificates-java. -- Kind regards, Dan From rc516 at medschl.cam.ac.uk Mon Feb 6 09:05:38 2012 From: rc516 at medschl.cam.ac.uk (Raf Czlonka) Date: Mon, 6 Feb 2012 09:05:38 +0000 Subject: [Debian-uk] Time for another Bug Squashing Party In-Reply-To: <20120203140112.GK5020@einval.com> References: <20120123180549.GB22003@einval.com> <20120130225212.GH5020@einval.com> <20120202102543.GA22011@medschl.cam.ac.uk> <20120203140112.GK5020@einval.com> Message-ID: <20120206090538.GA12123@medschl.cam.ac.uk> On Fri, Feb 03, 2012 at 02:01:12PM GMT, Steve McIntyre wrote: > That's cool. Let me know if you need any help on Friday before all starts - I live on the other side of the river. Can bring some hardware if needed (mostly older). P.S. BTW, can the same command-line option be applied to the other executables in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/, such as javaws, keytool, and pluginappletviewer? The postinst script definitely runs keytool, so that might be the root of the problem. -- Thanks, Dan From vi5u0-debianuk at yahoo.co.uk Sat Feb 11 21:43:50 2012 From: vi5u0-debianuk at yahoo.co.uk (Dan) Date: Sat, 11 Feb 2012 21:43:50 +0000 (GMT) Subject: [Debian-uk] Crashes during apt-get install ca-certificates-java: IPv6 involvement?
